Attention! Law student freshers.

“All my senses were heightened. I could smell the mustiness of my gown and feel the sweat prickling the forehead under my wig.”

That’s how Charles Courtley felt when he rose to address the jury in his first big case. The quote above comes from my novel Wig Begone which is ideal light reading for those interested in the cut and thrust of advocacy as opposed to poring over commercial contracts or working out the intricacies of tedious boundary disputes.

The book won’t teach you much about stodgy legal facts but it’s a great introduction to the follies of human nature, always so apparent when our criminal justice system is involved…
